CG & CGQ NOMINATED IN "BEST OF CHICAGO" POLL!
VOTE EARLY AND OFTEN!
I woke up this morning to the news that I received nominations in 2 categories for the 2024 Chicago Reader Best of Chicago poll - one me for “best jazz musician” and CGQ for “best jazz ensemble!”
Yes, music is not a competition and "best" is subjective when it comes to artistic expression and creativity. Moreover, it's always an honor to be mentioned along some very worthy co-nominees. That said - if you dig what we do, please consider throwing me/us a vote and sharing this with anyone who may be interested. Voting ends on December 31st.
PS Don’t forget to vote for Pravda Records for “best local label” and Marqueal Jordan for “best R&B artist” and Car Con Carne for "best podcast" and Steve Dawson for “best singer-songwriter,” too.
The reviews for Conversance are in!
"4.5 stars. The members of the Chris Greene Quartet play to see each other shine. When a band has played together as long as these guys have, it is probable that they do so because they realize that it means they will all shine brighter together. That is what makes "Conversance" such a good recording: the band members are so familiar with themselves and each other that it sweetens the sound of the recorded music. Well done."- All About Jazz.
"...their new album, Conversance, showcases their time-honed chemistry and songwriting chops. The production, by Greene and bassist Marc Piane, is so warm and clean that you’ll feel like you’re sitting in the middle of the band at one of their practice sessions." - Chicago Reader
"Greene’s been taking some big steps forward with each of his past few releases, and Conversance might very well be his best effort yet. " - What's New on WDCB with Paul Abella.
